2022 J&S Fielke Chardonnay - Adelaide Hills South Australia

from A$172.00
sold out

The 2022 Lenswood Chardonnay is a single vineyard wine. This wine comes from a 40 year old I10V1 vineyard, with a East facing aspect protecting it from the afternoon sun. The fruit was whole fruit pressed and settled overnight without additions, before barrelling down with solids to 30% new oak for a wild fermentation. No sulfur was added until malo naturally completed in the spring. This allowed bottling without the need for fining or filtration after 8 months maturation in wood.

95 points - "Here’s a wine of individual personality, yet no shortage of charm. It’s nutty, saline, zesty in green apple acidity, but also has richness with some butterscotch pudding character (and I can’t tell you how much I like a classic pudding!). There’s apple and pear, a spicy cinnamon edge, and a long and tangy wheatgerm finish. It’s milky, umami, and chalky at once. Sunshine and earth. Terrific wine." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)
